Summer activities in Meribel

Mountain biking

Like many ski resorts Meribel's terrain transforms after the snow has melted to provide excellent mountain biking conditions. Meribel and the Three Valleys area boasts 263km of routes including singletrack trails, downhill courses, forest and alpine routes and fire roads. There is also a bike park which is developing each season.

July and August are the best months to visit during which several of the ski lifts (converted to include bike racks) are open to transport you to the top of some of the best trails in France. For details of opening times and dates click here.

Walking / hiking

For a relaxing (or even an energetic!) walking holiday the Meribel valley has kilometres of well signposted walking routes many of which can be picked up just a few minutes' walk from the chalet or from nearby villages whilst a short drive to Mottaret takes you to the edge of the Tueda Nature Reserve and the Vanoise National Park. Maps are available at the chalet and Tourist Information or alternatively we work with Simply Savoie who offer guiding services. For prices and more information please visit our hiking page.

Walkers are also able to use the lift system by purchasing the Meripass (see above) to avoid those long ascents and take advantage of the glorious views. For details of opening times and dates click here

Via Ferrata

This is an energetic climbing excursion comprising a mix of hiking, rock-climbing and mountaineering with the added security of steps, bridges and ladders making it accessible to adults and children over 8 years old. We can arrange guided via ferrata excursions. For more details see our hiking page.

Golf

Meribel is home to one of the most beautiful golf courses of the Alps, an 18 hole (71 par) course located at the Altiport. Open from early June until October, it is one of the most beautiful mountain courses in France, offering wonderful views of the Saulire peaks and over Méribel valley. The course is hilly, ranging from 1565m to 1850m. The course is open to non-members, has no minimum handicap to play, is child friendly and hosts several competitions with open entry during the peak months of July and August. Buggies, trolleys and clubs can all be hired from the clubhouse.

Using the river bed as a natural obstacle course and with the safety of a guide you abseil down cascades, splash into pools and ride the river rapids. You can choose from short beginners’ routes or longer ones for the more adventurous. Suitable for anyone over the 8 years old.
